Avenues homes, and what they need
The Avenues sits on the foothills just north of downtown and is one of Salt Lake City's oldest neighborhoods, with Victorian homes, bungalows and small apartment buildings on narrow lots.
Old homes on a hill move. Doors and windows stick, caulk and weatherstripping fail, and plaster cracks. Winter comes a little sooner up here too, so winterizing and gutters are worth doing early.
Parking and access can be tight, so we plan the visit and the materials ahead so one trip gets it done.

Do you work on historic homes?
Yes. Much of our work in The Avenues and Sugar House is in homes from the early 1900s. We take care with original trim, doors and plaster.
When should I winterize up here?
Earlier than the valley floor. Aim to have sprinklers blown out and hose bibs covered by mid October.
